Description: Two days of hiking through Slovak Paradise (Slovenský Raj), Slovakia. This is a large and beautiful national park located in the center of this mountainous country, Slovakia. I stayed at Hotel Čingov, a health and spa, located in a remote and isolated area about two miles from the northern entrance to the park, which I would highly recommend.
My first day was on my birthday, July 10, 2011, where I celebrated with a bottle of Czech wine on Tomášovský Viewpoint, a highly photographed cliff overlooking miles and miles of the beautiful park, that I would hike in the next two days.
After that, I met up with very cool steel girder-like bridges that hugged the side of mountains. As I walked it, I clung to the safety chain ... below, nothing but river. The next day I met three cool Poles, one being a fireman, which came in handy when we came to a ladder he noticed was dangerous to use. Having him lead the party was reassuring as we had to climb, climb, climb all the way straight up a mountain using many ladders. At the top, we hiked through a gorge, eventually.
Viewing Slovakia from the top was amazing and a real high point on my trip.
